WHAT WE DO
In 2012 Tampa Bay CDC–now Suncoast Housing Connections–was awarded designation as a NeighborWorks Homeownership Center. This designation is federally-recognized and it is awarded to agencies who offer “full cycle” services, including pre-purchase counseling and education, post-purchase counseling, home retention counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, and down payment assistance lending.
WHICH SERVICES ARE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Pre-purchase Counseling: If you are ready to buy a house, but worried about your financials, book an appointment to meet with a Housing Counselor. During the counseling session, we will make an assessment of your mortgage readiness status, reviewing bank statements, tax returns, current income and a credit report. Together, we will develop a work plan, including a list of tasks you will need to get you ready to purchase a home.
Homebuyer Education: If you are nearly ready to buy your first home, this 8-hour First Time Homebuyer workshop is for you. Topics covered in the curriculum include financial management, budgeting, understanding credit, navigating the mortgage process, selecting and inspecting a home, new homeowner responsibilities and more. During the course, you will provided access to members of your homebuying team, including lenders, realtors, inspectors, insurance agents. You will also be given information regarding available Down Payment Assistance Programs.
Foreclosure Prevention Counseling: If you are facing or at imminent danger of foreclosure, we can help. Our Housing Counselors provide one-on-one counseling in person, via the internet or by telephone. We fully assess your hardship and identify available resources.
Financial Education: If you want to gain better control over your finances, attend our free three hour course which focuses on budgeting and credit. This interactive course provides attendees with basic information about money management. This class in not limited to Suncoast Housing Connections clients and is open to the community at large.
